Qualification & Requirements:

-PhD Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field;
-5+ years of experience in research and development in 2D/3D Computer Vision or Robotics;
-Strong knowledge in state-of-the-art computer vision, machine learning and robotics technologies;
-Strong programming skills with at least one programming language such as C++ and Python.
-Proven experience in conducting cutting edge research with successful outcome;
-Proven track record of publications in top-tier conferences and journals in Computer Vision, Machine Learning, Robotics, or related fields (e.g. CVPR, ICCV, ECCV, TPAMI, IJCV, NIPS, ICLR, ICML, IJRR, RSS, etc.);
-Ability to develop practical solutions to challenging problems;
-Strong writing, communication, and cross discipline collaboration skills;
-Extensive experience and knowledge in Deep Learning and AI-related technologies;
-Familiarity with deep learning frameworks such as Tensorflow and Pytorch;
-Experience with OpenCV, ROS, PCL or VTK is a plus;
-Experience with RGBD sensors is a plus;
-Experience with embedded systems and edge-based AI systems is a plus;

Your Role

The successful candidates will join the Computer Vision, Machine Intelligence and Imaging (CVI2) headed by Prof. Djamila Aouada in order to carry out research in the general area of Computer Vision. Multiple positions are open.

CVI2 offers the opportunity to work on multiple projects (projects with industrial partners such as Lift-Me Off, ARTEC 3D and DataThings and/or national and international academic projects). All projects require conducting full scale experiments, including real-time implementation, data acquisition, training and validation at the SnT Computer Vision Lab. Your Role

We offer two attractive PhD candidate positions in close cooperation with our industrial partner Artec3D. Artec3D is a global leader in handheld and portable 3D scanners and has been at the forefront of developing innovative 3D technology since 2007 (www.artec3d.com).

A faculty member in Big Data analytics is expected to contribute in the areas of artificial intelligence and machine learning approaches to high-dimensional data, computational inference, parallel computing, network analysis, and data visualization. Such an expertise will help elevate our already internationally known experimental programs in laser assisted manufacturing, optics, photonics, and energy systems. The Machine Learning Department in Princeton, NJ, has openings for researchers with a passion for developing the next generation of machine intelligence. The postdoctoral associate will work on the representation of entities described by several modalities, with a particular emphasis on the use of visual data to help in search and linking of entities. The goal is to not only disambiguate one modality by using another, but also to jointly disambiguate both by representing them in a common space

We consider entities such as a person, a place, an object or an organization, that can be represented by different modalities, in particular by visual and textual content. However, a given mention of this entity is often ambiguous. For example, the mention «Paris» refers not only to the city of France (and a dozen of other cities in the world), but also to the model Paris Hilton and the Greek hero of the Trojan War. An additional visual content linked to the mention can greatly help to disambiguate, although the visual content itself carries other ambiguities. We also consider a third type of information, namely links between entities within a knowledge base. The task of Multimedia Question Answering needs all these three modalities to be solved.

Successful candidate will conduct research and develop advanced deep learning based algorithms for satellite image search/retrieval from large-scale data archives and semantic scene understanding. This will entail the development of novel deep learning models that can address the problems on incomplete, noisy and imbalanced training sets for image search, retrieval and classification.
Furthermore, the candidate is expected to publish/present the achieved research results and to mentor students at the BSc. and MSc. levels.

Requirements:
1- Successfully completed university degree (Master, Diplom or equivalent) in computer science, engineering, or mathematics.
2- Research experience with deep learning and explainable AI.
3- Experience in training deep neural networks and are familiar with various network architectures (ConvNets, LSTMs, ResNets, Transformers etc.).
